Designed by Johan Nordstrand, the wooden church was completed in 1899 on a rocky hill in the coastal landscape. The site has held a church since 1667, and the parish became independent from Ulvila in 1639.
The Lutheran parish runs diaconal support, youth and confirmation work, children's clubs and camps, and mission, music and preaching activities. The entrance, toilet and parking area are wheelchair accessible.
