Built in 1879–1881 and consecrated on 1 November 1881, the church seats about 600. Bricks were fired from clay at the foot of the church hill, and volunteers carried out much of the work. Väinö Hämäläinen's 1930 altarpiece depicts the Descent from the Cross. Urho Lehtinen's decorative paintings include a bee symbol and the four evangelists' symbols on the ceiling.
The 1980 organ was made by the Kangasala organ factory. Ten of its 16 stops come from the earlier instrument. The entrance, car park and toilet are wheelchair accessible. The parish website publishes a knitting pattern for the church's own woollen socks.
