The day-trip shelter for walkers and cross-country skiers stands on the northern shore of a pond. Shaped like a hexagonal nut, it has an open fireplace in the centre and benches along the walls. It replaced a nearby shelter on Särkitunturi that burned down in 2011.
A gravel path makes access easier for less experienced walkers. The door can be closed, but the interior cannot be heated effectively. Outside are a toilet and locked storage building, with a jetty for swimmers by the pond. The shelter is part of the Ylläs-Levi-Olos hut network.
