The memorial stone marks the site where a Myrsky fighter crashed in May 1947 during an air combat exercise, killing its pilot, Captain Kauko Ikonen. The aircraft and pilot sank into the clay field and were never recovered, so the stone stands above the wreck.

The memorial is in a cultivated sugar beet field some distance from the road, enclosed by a metal fence. Although sometimes described as a small cemetery, it is officially a memorial.
