Designed by Rafael Blomstedt, this wooden funeral chapel was consecrated in 1930. It has a steep gable roof and has since been extended and restored. Antti Salmenlinna painted the altar wall in 1957, Mikko Mattila carved the wooden crucifix in 1983, and the organ dates from 1979.
A farewell room is on the ground floor. The chapel opens 15 minutes before a funeral service, with a caretaker on site. There is a sound system, seating in rows and space for prams. Access is step-free, with an accessible toilet and parking space.
If you wish, share your experience of the chapel's practical arrangements in the comments for other families.
