Founded in 1987, this private nursery has about 39 children in three groups for ages one to five, including an outdoor-focused group for four- and five-year-olds. English is part of play-based, experiential learning. Food is prepared in the nursery kitchen, and outdoor groups eat outside year-round.
The wooded yard has old-growth forest, stones, low cliffs and a hut for themed activities. Children visit the forest daily and practise outdoor skills on excursions. The two-storey Huvikumpu building contains play spaces, a living room and studio, a tatami area and nap rooms. Applications are submitted electronically. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
