Founded in 1902, this is the oldest theatre in town. It was a professional theatre until 1926, then carried on with evening actors; its activity was banned in 1930 and re-founded in 1950, and since the 1980s it has been purely amateur. Two or three premieres are staged each year, from thrillers to farce, and children's plays are part of the repertoire. The current season includes Stephen King's thriller Piina and Berlin, a play set in East Berlin. About 6,000 spectators attend each year.
The Impromania group performs improvisation for all ages and can be booked for events. Tickets are sold through Netticket and the theatre's own ticket sales. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible, but there is no hearing loop or accessible seating.
