Operating since 1996, this development association and local action group supports rural businesses, start-up entrepreneurs and communities. Selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, its area includes Imatra, Ruokolahti and Rautjärvi. Support includes smart-village projects for associations and Kipinäraha grants for young people.
Business support applications are submitted electronically through Hyrrä on a continuous basis. Support generally targets businesses with fewer than ten employees and is paid after costs are incurred. Village development officers help communities plan projects and identify ways to implement them.
