Forestry history is presented from the sawmill boom of the 1860s to mechanisation in the 1960s. The grounds contain an exhibition hall, logging cabin, sauna, stable and forestry machinery. The permanent Polkuja metsään exhibition, opened in 2007, explores forest protection. The site is part of Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas Geopark.
The roughly 2 km Kustaa-hirvi nature trail has eight information boards with English translations. The trail is not barrier-free, while the museum grounds and parking are accessible. The roughly 7 km Käpykintukka trail leads to Käenkoski visitor centre. A beach, shelters, fire sites and Messukallio hill are nearby. The grounds can be used for hiking outside museum opening hours.
