This youth workshop is for 17 to 29-year-olds who are outside working life or education. Each young person gets an individual support plan matched to their needs and goals, and the coaching combines individual, work and group sessions. The aim is to strengthen social skills, working-life skills, daily life management and work and functional capacity. Activities include ceramics, knitting with needle felting, baking and charity projects.
Participation is possible through a workshop agreement, a work trial or study under a training contract. Much of the activity is credited as study, so it can supplement vocational studies or lead to a partial or full qualification, and the skills gained can be documented in a PAIKKO certificate of competence. The workshop works with broad multi-sector networks and referring bodies. Its values are equality and respect, participation and support, and sustainability.
Have you taken part in the workshop, or do you know someone who has? Share your experience in the comments for other young people.
