Family day care takes place in the childminder's home, with up to four children per group. Each child is looked after by one familiar childminder, and the children go outdoors and exercise in nature every day. Childminders are trained with pedagogical competence, and the municipality supervises the service. Home-cooked meals are part of the day.
Before a placement you can visit the childminder's home on a free trial visit. A gradual soft start is available, with a parent present on the first days. Applications are made through an online form, and the service belongs to a chain operating across Finland.
