Meltwater from the continental ice sheet shaped this rock gorge, about 70 metres long and 10–13 metres deep. It follows a northwest–southeast weakness zone in fractured bedrock. The gorge and a southwest rock overhang served as wartime hiding places, and small boulder caves lie to the south.
A marked path leads to the gorge and a viewpoint on a nearby rocky hill. The starting point at the southern end of Saarijärvi has parking and an information board. The site belongs to a network of geological attractions.
