The river rapids' industrial history began with a sawmill founded by Baltzar Freitag in the 1760s. Fredrik Sovelius built another sawmill here in 1844, and a pulp mill was completed in 1905 after the Santaholma family acquired the site. Four watermills operated here in the early 1900s.
View the rapids from Koskipuisto park on the south bank. A lean-to shelter and campfire site on the north bank are reached by a road from the opposite bank. Take care near the powerful current.
