This massive grey stone church, cross-shaped and seating over 700, was built in two years without any state loan. It was consecrated on 10 August 1909 by Archbishop Gustav Johansson. The altarpiece, Christ on the Cross, was painted by Ilmari Heinonen in 1939, with the original altar fresco, The Last Supper, remaining on the wall behind it. The organ was bought from Rauma church and made by Kangasala Organ Factory. A display case holds a scale model of Port Caledonia, which sank in the Bay of Biscay in 1924 with 10 local people aboard.
A memorial sculpture designed by Yrjö Rosola stands in front of the church, and a memorial for those buried elsewhere, designed by Reijo Paavilainen, stands to the north. Services are held on Sundays and public holidays, and bookings go through the parish office. The entrance, toilet and parking are wheelchair accessible, and an induction loop is available.
