The library system has a main library in the town centre plus branch libraries in Pattijoki and Vihanti. The Pattijoki library operates from temporary premises. Mobile library buses from Haapavesi (Vihanti area, Mondays) and Kalajoki (Saloinen area, Tuesdays) supplement the service, and e-materials are available through the OUTI network library shared with Kainuu, Lapland and North Ostrobothnia.
At the main library, rooms, computers and game consoles can be booked through the Timmi reservation system, and paid rooms require registration. Digital workshop equipment can be reserved from staff, and Digikummit offer digital guidance on Wednesdays by appointment. Regular events include Finnish conversation sessions, reading sessions, children's story sessions, board game days and morning coffee meetups. Customer toilets are open only when staff are present. The library is run by the city, and its car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
