The youth theatre is part of a wind band association founded on 25 April 1979 to support wind band hobbies. The theatre grew out of a music theatre course for music students in 1994, and it produces a musical every spring and runs a summer camp. The association also includes Lastenteatteri Ranttali, a children's theatre that holds its own summer camp. The association runs five orchestra ensembles for children, young people and adults.
The association owns the Tornado hall, a 195-seat concert and musical theatre venue in a converted industrial hall, bought in 1995. It has professional-level lighting and sound equipment and a good percussion setup. Theatre training is delivered in cooperation with the Järvi-Saimaa adult education centre, and theatre education began in 2009. The association works with the municipality and organises music and theatre camps.
