This roughly 40 km defence line comprises over 40 reinforced concrete bunkers and about 5 km of stone anti-tank obstacles. Built alongside the Salpa Line, it was intended to stop an attack from the Soviet base at Hanko towards the interior and capital. Bunker Irma 302 retains mainly original equipment, including a 45 mm anti-tank gun and a machine gun.
Hangö Frontmuseum operates Irma as a museum, open on summer weekends and otherwise by arrangement. It offers guided visits, a bunker hiking route and tours of Soviet-era fortifications at Tvärminne. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
