This small art museum is housed in the pink stone building Pinnala, built in 1795 and the town's first private stone house. Art museum activity began here in 1970, and the museum has been part of the city museums since 2019. It holds the city art collection, and the permanent exhibition upstairs shows 68 works by 68 artists.

Besides temporary exhibitions it offers guided tours, workshops, lectures and the Pinnala TALKS discussion series, mostly in Finnish. The museum shop sells art publications, postcards, prints and works by local artists and craftspeople. The Museum Card is accepted, and admission is free for under 18s. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible: the ground-floor exhibition spaces can be reached via the inner courtyard with a platform lift and staff assistance, but there is no accessible toilet. The upper floor is reached by stairs only, with high thresholds between rooms. The museum also provides expert information on its collections and archives and rents meeting and workshop rooms.
