The university of applied sciences offers bachelor's and master's (YAMK) degrees with a practical, working-life focus, and some degree programmes are taught in English. Open university studies (Avoin AMK) allow individual courses and progress towards a degree, and the Santsi service provides continuing and specialisation training. Research, development and innovation work is broad and closely linked to teaching. The institution holds the Karvi Excellence quality label.
The gyms on the Kemi campus and the main campus are free for staff and students, and staff canteens serve on weekdays on all campuses. The entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
