This non-profit civic organisation is the Lapland district of the Finnish Nature Conservation Association. It works for nature in northern and Arctic Finland and supports local member associations in the region: there are 12, with over 1000 individual members. The district publishes statements, appeals and objections on mining, data centre and environmental permit projects. It was founded in 1970 as the Lapin luonnonsuojeluyhdistys, and the regional district was formed in 1977. It was renamed in 2015 and uses the association's Saimaa ringed seal logo. Its history includes work for the Vuotos and Kemihaara wetlands, the Ounasjoki river, peatland protection and river protection laws.
The district organises open events such as courses, trips and nature work parties. You can join as a member on its website, and donations are accepted. Contact goes through its office.
