These rock paintings lie in the Näsijärvi lake system at Palovesi and show a churning old woman and a naked woman. The paintings now visible were made by the artist Tapio Salo in 1980, while the originals date from the 1800s or earlier.
A local theory links the originals to Akseli Gallen-Kallela, but there is no evidence for it. Logs were floated through the strait in the 1800s, and the paintings are of cultural-historical interest. They are not protected under the Finnish Antiquities Act.
