The restaurant's food is built on local ingredients: reindeer meat, reindeer blood, fresh cucumber and tomato, and fish from Kemijärvi, Kuusamo and the surrounding area. Specialities include reindeer blood pancakes and reindeer blood sausages, and pizzas topped with cold-smoked pike or reindeer. Burgers, pizzas and pastas are also served, some gluten-free for a small surcharge, along with vegetarian and vegan dishes. All pastries and cakes are baked in-house, and specialty coffees are served. The recipes have been passed down through generations, with Christmas gingerbread dating from 1964.
Itäkota is a small slope-side café at the foot of the eastern slopes, reachable on foot, by car, on downhill or cross-country skis or by snowmobile. It serves coffee, cocoa, pastries and cold drinks, and its outdoor terrace is heated by a covered fireplace. The restaurant received Green Key certification in 2019, the first in Finland to do so. Food waste is minimised, plastic is sorted and biowaste is collected. The seating, entrance, car park and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
