The boating club was founded in 1979 and aims to improve members' boating and navigation skills and boating safety. It has about 250 members and about 50 boats in its register, with two harbour bases in the Archipelago Sea and its own slipway near the town centre.
Every year it runs sailing courses and certificate exams, including the Finnish archipelago skipper certificate, as well as practical training such as night driving and emergency drills. Events include autumn and spring cruises and an annual spring general meeting. Membership requires the Navigation Union skipper certificate, and student membership is available during studies. The club belongs to the Finnish Navigation Union, and defibrillators are installed at its island bases.
