The village association was founded at a constituent meeting on 9 April 1986. Its first chairman was Pekka E. Helenius and its first secretary Elvi Järventausta. The emblem was chosen through a competition in 1988 and designed by artist Seppo Rusi. Before the association, village activity ran as a group under the local adult education centre.

Early activities included teaching traditional crafts such as soap making, red ochre paint, pärekoppi baskets, flax growing and processing, and potato flour. The weaving group designed the Keikyä costume, and members have made 10 to 15 of them; three looms are still in use. The association rents the riverside sauna of Keikyä school from the municipality and bought the sauna for itself on 31 December 2008. An ice-swimming group used the shore regularly from 1988 to 2010, a women's exercise group has met weekly at the school since 1991, and the association has provided meals for participants of the Satakunta Folk Music Festival since 1988. It works with the Keikyä local heritage museum and the municipality.
