The church belongs to the parish in the Diocese of Kuopio. It was designed by local architect Peko Väänänen and first used on Christmas Eve 1923. The interior paintings are by Bruno Tuukkanen and depict human life and the biblical stories of Christmas and Easter. The altarpiece Christ on the Cross was painted by Sulo Honkanen with Santeri Salokivi for the church's 10th anniversary in 1934. The organ was built by Urkurakentamo Tuomi in 1980 and has 26 stops.
The church seats 550 and has an organ gallery, a side gallery and two entrances. Services are streamed on the parish internet radio, and a virtual church tour is available online. The church can be rented for events and celebrations. The neighbouring parish hall has an induction loop, and parking is free. The entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
