This sports technology unit is part of a faculty of sport and health sciences. It carries out multidisciplinary, applied sports biology research and offers master's and doctoral education in sports technology. It began operating in Vuokatti in 2004, and its facilities are now at the Snowpolis technology centre. Its research focuses on applied, technology-based studies of Nordic ski sports.
Sports technology here covers analysis software and assistive technologies, applied to competitive and top sport, fitness, special groups and rehabilitation. The master's programme is run jointly by the university and the municipality. The unit has a national and international research network and has hosted several international scientific congresses in Vuokatti. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
