On the shore of Lake Saimaa in Iitlahti lies a wetland of over 20 hectares, with deep and shallow water, open and sheltered areas and islets. Whooper swan, common redshank, ruddy shelduck, crane, black-tailed godwit and common sandpiper have been seen here, and the rare common greenshank too. The bird hide, completed in autumn 2021, suits bird watchers, beginners and families with children.
The site can be reached by car, with signposts from Sulkavantie 435. It is listed among the local nature destinations.
