This equine vet does not work from a fixed clinic but makes stable visits to the horses. The work area is mainly Pirkanmaa, with visits also in southern Finland and Estonia. The speciality is equine musculoskeletal disease and preventive health care. Portable X-ray and ultrasound equipment, a shock-wave unit, an airway endoscope and lab equipment travel along.
Services include lameness examinations, radiography and ultrasound, dental care at the home stable and pre-purchase examinations. Joint and back injections are given with PRP, stem cells and PAAG hydrogels, and mesotherapy, dry needling and bisphosphonate treatments are also offered. Competition horses have their own veterinary service, and the vet works with farriers, physiotherapists and saddle makers. Evening and weekend visits are available by agreement. Veterinarian Laura Niemelä graduated from Tartu in 2010 and trained at the equine hospital of Ghent University.
