This West African dance and music association was founded in 2007. Classes teach djembe drumming and West African dance to all skill levels, with a free trial session. The teacher is Senegalese-born musician and choreographer Ismaila Sané, who has taught since 1999. Dance covers traditional choreographies including djembe, jola, bougarabou, mandinka and balanta dances plus mbalax, while drum classes cover traditional rhythms and modern sabar, with dundun drums where needed.
The space follows the city's safer space principles. Membership is paid by bank transfer and class payments in cash to the teacher; a voluntary sponsorship payment does not require membership. The group can also be booked to perform at events, festivals, park concerts and private occasions. The website is in Finnish and English, and the space is in the Pienteollisuustalo building.
