Founded in 1961, the parent-led association advocates for people with intellectual disabilities and supports them, their families and relatives. Its work includes information, guidance, counselling, peer support and recreation. Mothers' groups have historically raised funds through crafts and events.
Activities include hobby courses, outdoor activities, spa trips and family events. Together with the Tukena Foundation, it runs a meeting place for families and people with disabilities. The entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
