Founded in 1945, the politically non-partisan association advocates a secular society and the removal of state privileges for religions. It belongs to the Finnish Free Thinkers' Association, has around 200 members and is open to anyone.
Monthly talks and discussions at its club premises cover subjects such as media ethics and euthanasia. Activities also include nature walks and occasional exhibition or theatre visits. A library of around 100 books is available, and the association publishes Pakanasanomat magazine.
