The independent non-profit cooperative works in professional fishing, fish processing and ecosystem restoration, with winter seine fishing and support for traditional livelihoods at its core. The cooperative was formed in 2005 from a project launched in 2000.
Fish products are sold through its online shop. It runs the Rewilding Landscapes programme and restoration of the Jukajoki and Kuivasjärvi catchments, publishes books and carries out environmental monitoring and biological research. International cooperation involves partners across Arctic regions. The head office opened in 2022.
