The 19th-century pharmacist's house presents the family's home and pharmacy. Alexander II granted a pharmacy licence in 1860, followed by its charter in 1866. The family also farmed and kept livestock. From 1944 the house was occupied by the pharmacist's youngest son, Major Harry Nyman, and his wife.
The municipality bought the house and Kotola farm in 1980 and renovated the building. A local heritage association runs the museum under an agreement with the municipality. The grounds also include Renkitupa café and a picture gallery. Accessible parking is available.
