The local church area's activities include family clubs, senior and scouting activities, a craft café and music events. The church is known for its ceiling paintings by Pellervo Lukumies, made in 1972–1973. The local parish became independent in 1909.
In winter, the church opens only for services and church ceremonies. Activities are announced in the local paper, on notice boards, in the weekly church bulletin and on Facebook. The entrance, car park and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
