This amateur theatre association, founded in 1995, is based in the historic Manilla factory building. It stages four to five premieres a year, each involving dozens of amateurs and professionals. It works partly under professional direction and cooperates with other regional theatres and the UAS Academy of Fine Arts. It is a member of the Finnish Amateur Theatre Federation and follows its safer-space principles.
There are no numbered seats, so the audience chooses freely. Latecomers are not admitted until the interval. Interval refreshments include coffee, tea, soft drinks, water and small snacks, but no alcohol. The venue is not fully accessible: a few steps lead to the toilet, and wheelchair spaces are not fixed, so contact the theatre in advance. Carers of holders of an escort card or a Kela disability card with an A marking get free tickets. Parking in the yard is prohibited except for one accessible space, and free parking is available on nearby streets. The rooms can be rented for meetings, parties and events.
