The chapel in Casagrandentalo occupies the ruins of an earlier church. A Holy Spirit House was documented here in the 1390s, run by a hospital order caring for poor, sick and elderly people. King John III funded a church for Finnish-speaking residents in 1588, but construction stalled, the unfinished building burned and was later ordered demolished.
Excavations begun in 1986 revealed the house, church and cemetery remains. Nearly 650 people were reburied in the chapel, behind which a wall from 1588 survives. Visits can be arranged through a booking calendar, and an augmented reality history experience is offered. The entrance is wheelchair accessible and a toilet is available.
