This Lutheran church was built in 1806 from giant-ring spruce logs to a design by Martti Tolppo. It was renovated in 1869 to plans by provincial architect G. A. Edelfelt and again in 2005–2006. The church seats about 800. Its organ was built by Martti Porthan Oy and taken into use in 1989, with 30 stops on two manuals and pedal, mechanical action and tuning in the 18th-century style (Werckmeister III).
The church is used mainly for weddings, baptisms, funeral blessings and concerts, and it is a summer road church during the season. A car park for about 40 cars lies next to it. A wheelchair ramp is available, but help is needed to open the door and enter the nave. Facilities include a defibrillator, an induction loop, a baby-care room, a gender-neutral toilet, a piano or grand piano and a sound system.
