Nuutajärvi is Finland's oldest glass village, with glassblowing recorded here since 1793. Glass is blown in a historic ironworks setting among lakes and forests. The village has artists' studios, a glass school and the Lasikomppania glassworks, and its shops sell work by about 20 artists based in Nuutajärvi. The museums on site are Oiva Toikka's Lintukoto and the Lasimuseo Prykäri.
Visitors can join glassblowing experiences and activity days. There is a restaurant, a village hotel and other accommodation, and group, experience, restaurant and hotel bookings are handled by Nuutajärven Lasi. Concerts, dinners and seasonal events such as Christmas openings are held in the village. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible, and the website is in Finnish and English.
