The estate's history dates back to 1811, and the business began in 1993 under Kaisu Merilä. The hotel and restaurant stand on the bank of the Oulujoki, about half an hour's drive from Oulu. The buildings include Aittahotelli, Savusauna, Vilpola, Kota and the Puoji meeting and party venue. The food is mostly local and Northern Ostrobothnian, and dishes and bread are made in the estate's own kitchen. Fish is wild-caught from Rokua and Oulujärvi waters, or Kvarken salmon or Finnish rainbow trout. The menu includes juhannusjuusto (midsummer cheese), eaten year-round, and the restaurant takes catering orders.
Meeting spaces range from 10-person rooms to a space for up to 280 people, and meeting packages include WiFi, AV equipment and flip charts. There is a smoke sauna, and activities such as forest olympics and yoga are available. Breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking are free, pets are welcome and the premises are wheelchair accessible. There is no pool or gym.
