This bakery-confectionery has its roots in Vinkkilä, Vehmaa, where Asko Kirjonen founded the bakery in 1957. It moved to its current premises in 1982 and was renamed Askondi Oy. After more than six decades as a family business, it was acquired by Saariston Leipä Oy in November 2021. It is known for meat pies, rye loaf, pasties, piispanmunkki doughnuts and sourdough bread, and the café also sells Saariston Leipä Oy products.
Products reach this café fresh from the bakery. Bread, pastries, confectionery and cakes are made to order for everyday life and celebrations. Most products are lactose-free, with gluten-free and vegan options too, and individual special diets are accommodated where possible. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
