The folk high school's university unit offers a 180-credit bachelor's programme in Japanese studies with Dalarna University. Campus lectures are complemented by remote university teaching. Subjects include Japanese language, culture and society, anime and manga, and academic writing. Calligraphy and JLPT language-test preparation are also offered.
Teaching uses Swedish, Finnish and English, with Japanese at higher levels. Entry requires a matriculation exam or three-year vocational qualification and B2 English. Selection considers certificates, recommendations and motivation. Students can apply for Finnish study grants and loans.
