This visitor attraction lies at Söderfjärden, a drained agricultural area, and is run by the Meteoria section of the Sundom village association. It works with the astronomy association Vasa Andromeda, which organises viewings at the observatory. There is also a bird tower and outdoor exhibitions that are always open, along with an exhibition barn about agriculture and a memorial stone for the draining of Söderfjärden.
Group guided visits can be booked online, and public open-house evenings and events are held, including lectures on the evolution of life. Söderfjärden's 1920s drainage project was at the time the largest in Northern Europe. The surrounding plain is a Natura 2000 area and a nationally valuable landscape; it was used for fishing and seal hunting since the Stone Age and grows grain, barley and oats today. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
