This non-profit association was founded in 1957 to support people with intellectual disabilities and their families and relatives. The current name has been in use since 2006; earlier it was known as Vajaamielisten Tuki and Kehitysvammatuki 57. It runs leisure activities, clubs and groups, camps and excursions, and peer support. A mobile activity park is also available, and Ystävätupa is a meeting place founded in 1991.
Families can take part in recreation, courses and themed meetings for parents and for the whole family. The association runs supported housing, and Haksulan toimijatalo is one of its units. It also advocates for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and works on developing the quality of its services. Volunteers are welcome, and new volunteers receive training.
