The rapids form part of the Kämäri outdoor area beside Ämmäkoski. A nature trail leads through deciduous woodland and over wooden bridges to rapids views. Routes include about 700 metres maintained in winter and a 2.5-kilometre outdoor trail. The name comes from a watermill founded before the 1750s.
Parking is available at Navitas, the trail starting point. Otters and, in winter, white-backed woodpeckers have been seen in the area. Recreation facilities also include a beach, artificial turf field, artificial ice track and two ice halls. A fish bypass at neighbouring Ämmäkoski was completed in 2022.
