This Lutheran parish church stands on Haapasaari island close to the town centre and is one of the country's roadside churches. The current building dates from 1877–1878, when it replaced earlier churches on Vanha Kirkkosaari, and it was renovated in 2021–2022. It seats about 550 people. The interior has a video projector, screen, sound system, coffee service and baptismal font, and the church has an organ and bells. The churchyard's war memorials include the Syli sculpture by Jaana Bombin (2014) and the Yhteinen Valo memorial (2021).
Cars and buses can park in the church yard, and the main door has a ramp. The church is accessible: step-free entrance, accessible toilet, induction loop and partly accessible parking. A wheelchair space is at the front of the nave. A guided visit is offered during summer opening. The church belongs to the local parish.
