This is the Lutheran parish church of the town, built in 1772–1774 on the site of a church from 1651 under master builder Antti Hakola. It seats about 690. Provincial architect Theodor Granstedt's plans brought major alterations in 1883–84, including the organ gallery, and the church was renovated in 1967–68 and fully again in 1993–94 under Esko Räntilä. The altarpiece, painted by Aleksandra Sålt in 1897, shows the risen Christ appearing to Mary Magdalene. The mechanical-action organ of 1980 has three manuals, pedal and 30 stops, and there are three bells, the oldest from 1657.
The church hosts services, requiem and communion events and concerts. Parking, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
