Founded in 1974, the music institute teaches instruments and singing in Swedish to children, teenagers and adults. Activities include choirs for different ages, string and wind orchestras, bands and early childhood music play for ages 0–6. Teaching follows the national curriculum.
The institute is in the Vindängen building, where it moved in 2010. An open department allows study without examination requirements. The entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
