The daycare and pre-school at Ruusutorppa school form part of a community that also includes Montessori primary classes. In its child-centred approach, adults support learning while children work independently at their own pace. A parent association owns the daycare and manages its administration.
Children progress from pre-school to the adjacent Montessori first-grade classes. Staff receive continuing training with support from the association and the Finnish Montessori Association. Lunch is eaten in the school canteen.
