Karate training combines punches, kicks and evasive movement. Techniques are practised in pairs, with partner forms performed from a fighting stance and exercises using pads and kick targets. Competitions follow full-contact knockdown rules. The discipline was developed in the 1970s, and its international NIKO organisation was founded in 1980.
Training suits adults, young people and children, including beginners and experienced martial artists. Trial visits do not require advance registration.
