This is the first educational centre for prehistory in Finland, run by the municipality. Its exhibitions focus on the prehistory of the area, especially the Viking Age (800–1050 AD). The name comes from a dragon ornament on a silvered iron spearhead found in the Osmanmäki cemetery. Original finds and copies are on display, and some copies and textiles may be touched. Visitors can weave cloth, try other ancient techniques and take a Viking warrior challenge with shield and sword.
The centre is in a stone cattle barn designed by Jalmari Karhula, in the middle of the town. The entrance is from the bicycle path at the centre of the building, with free parking around it. The entrance, parking and toilet are wheelchair accessible. A lunch restaurant operates in the same building. Guided tours are organised by Alasatakunnan oppaat ry, with up to 20 people per guide. The Luistari Iron Age cemetery, with a summer exhibition, lies about 2 km away.
